1. What's your current turn around for custom orders?
Our turn around varies! It depends on where you catch us in the cycle. We're physically located in the sierras of Córdoba, Argentina (although I'm from Oregon originally). We ship regularly to our US distributor in Oregon so you only pay shipping from there. Be in touch and I'll let you know when you can expect to receive a custom order. Sometimes the wait can be as little as 10 days, but a usual turn around is about three weeks, from your first email to the actual delivery to your door.
It's also worth keeping in mind that our turn around time is influenced by the wonder of hand crafting all items from start to finish according to your specifications.
Items found in our Gift Shop (in stock, ready to go) usually ship within 2 business days from Oregon.
2. Where are you located, anyways?

3. What's with all the bookbinding terminology?
We love our craft (and so we go on and on about it...). Unable to stop, we did make a glossary to help you navigate our world a bit. Or, come backstage and learn even more. Most importantly, be in touch any time with questions!
4. Will I see my book's cover before you create my custom order?
Of course! We don't complete custom orders until we get the go ahead from you. I try to get cover mock ups to folks in less than 48 hours. Check out our color and font options here.
5. What are your business hours?
We're self employed, we work all the time! (But we do take random Tuesday afternoons off, just because.) I try to answer all emails in less than 48 hours. For the most part we work Monday to Friday, 8-6 EST. I do tend to check in with folks over the weekend, though, too. We're always glad you were in touch, and we try to answer as soon as humanly possible, but I do have to turn that darn phone off every so often or I'll lose my mind (and drive my children absolutely nuts).
6. My goodness, is that what it REALLY costs to ship a book?
Unfortunately, yes. We ship USPS Priority Mail, Insured, based on weight. Books are heavy, and I haven't figured out how to convince USPS to make an exception for us. (Come on! They're awesome books! Let them fly over the planet for less!) We charge the exact shipping cost, or less in many cases. No handling fees. We gladly offer combined shipping on orders of multiple items. If you're inadvertently overcharged for shipping for any reason, we do refund the difference.
USPS Priority Mail delivers in 2-3 days to domestic addresses. International delivery times do vary from country to country, but for the most part items show up on door steps in 8-10 days.
7. Are you folks for real?
Yep, we are. Magu and I are proud to have been online since 2001, sending custom hand bound originals to humans all over the planet. In every single shipment cycle (every single one!) Transient Books has repeat clients. We appreciate that folks really can live without hand bound books, and so we're honored to no end that clients keep coming back for more. It makes our day to know we've become a family tradition in many homes. First the wedding book, then the anniversary book, and the baby book, maybe followed by the bar mitzvah book, and so on. 8. Do you offer gift cards?
Yes we do! Just be in touch and I'll set you up.
9. What about gift wrap?
Upon request, we gift wrap orders for free. And it's pretty easy to talk us into including a hand written note for the recipient, too.
